Early this morning I woke up sitting on ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) claudia_writes' air mattress in London, inexplicably trying to remove the mirror from her wall in my sleep. This was right after I'd had the most intense lucid dream in years. Again, I'm weirded out by the things my brain makes my body do.
Tonight I'm back in Helsinki after a very epic two weeks in five different UK cities with tons of friends old and new. I got to realise six major fannish dreams, two of them virtually life-long (partying out on Canal Street and seeing actual dinosaur skeletons, in case you were wondering). I did lots of shopping that couldn't be done in Finland. I went out on the moors (a bit).
Tomorrow I'll catch up with life. claudia_writes and kat_lair, thanks so much for having me over, can't wait to see you again in a few weeks! zeitheist, it was fantastic meeting you for the first time and I'm sorry about my communication skills having been critically reduced from the combined brilliance of Misha, John and Gareth. I was later told that I looked like I was completely stoned during the whole weekend, which REALLY isn't how I usually am, I swear. :D

Hello all. As part of a project I am working on independently, I have started a blog about things that happen to me as a hospice nurse but also as someone who suddenly realized on Monday that she had been a nurse for more than a year now (SHOCKER!). Now I almost quit nursing while working as a cardiac nurse in a hospital. Then I left the hospital and went into visiting home hospice. Now, I love my job (despite how much I want to beat people with my laptop) but I work with a lot of nurses who are +15 years and it's interesting to talk with them. I talked about wanting to write something for new nurses since I went through a literal trial-by-fire in my first year.
So this is the beginning of the blog which is basically daily "love" for the profession. I invite everyone of all levels of nursing and the medical profession to take a read and comment. I hope you giggle, I hope you laugh, I hope you have some fun and I hope you remember those FANTASTIC memories of your first years as a nurse too.
My blog is amusingly titled: Committed: Story of a Nurse - No, you aren't crazy. Yes, the patient did that and no, you can't stop them.

Summary: Life on Mars/Harry Potter crossover. Teenage Sam and Gene are students at Hogwarts. It's Gene's birthday and Sam's organised a little surprise for him involving a magical projector, cowboys and some popcorn.

A/N: Yes, another one. I've given my head a good shake, so hopefully now they'll be fewer drabbles falling out of it. Anyway. Enjoy.
Gravity On the scans it looks like a smudge, one bright, careless fingerprint that can never be erased. The doctors measure the damage in millimetres, and what was all-consuming now becomes small. And benign. “Totally benign,” that was the phrase. Kindly, merciful, compassionate. Safe. None of those words have life here. Twice a week Frank Morgan has someone turn you onto your side so that he can check the stitches. The movement creates a sensation of sick pressure, like a crushing fist inside your head. “That’s the shunt”, Morgan tells you, but you know he’s wrong. It’s the pull of 1973.
